For Frankenmuth wedding photographers, there are certain locations that are just magical. So it is no wonder that Lekako chose Frankenmuth, Michigan to propose to the love of his life, Kahli. In fact, he proposed to her in front of Gunzenhausen Platz Fountain with their two Husky puppies! This beautiful plaza celebrates the long sister city relationship between Frankenmuth and Gunzenhausen, Germany.

Christmas Engagement Session

There’s nothing more romantic than having a Frankenmuth Christmas engagement session during holiday season! A Frankenmuth Christmas engagement is perfect for winter engagement session. This location is known both regionally and even internationally for being the location of the largest Christmas store in the world.

And, honestly, we couldn’t have picked a better day for this Frankenmuth winter engagement session–the weather was absolutely perfect. As you know, the city of Frankenmuth known for drawing crowds that can fill the streets and sidewalks. But it was actually the day Michigan entered a three-week COVID-19 lockdown. As a result, there were hardly any tourists. Luckily for us, photography is an easy activity to do with social distancing.

ZEHNDER’S RESTAURANT

I met Kahli and Lekako at Zehnder’s Restaurant to kick off the photoshoot with the Christmas decorations of the restaurant as a backdrop. To get the light, bright and airy images, we shot in front of the classic white restaurant for some beautiful engagement photos. 

HOLZ-BRÜCKE COVERED BRIDGE

After that, don’t forget to stop by the covered bridge which is a landmark in the area and a common site for tourists and locals alike. This is actually Michigan’s largest covered bridge and a treasured piece of history for the city. In fact, almost every Frankenmuth wedding photographer would choose this place for portrait location on wedding days.

BRONNER’S CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND IN FRANKENMUTH

A trip to Frankenmuth would not be complete without a trip to Bronner’s. Bronner’s Christmas Store is the world’s largest Christmas store and attracts tourists from around the world. Kahli celebrated her engagement to Lekako with a customized Christmas ornament from Bronner’s. I am sure that they will hang the ornament on a Christmas tree together this year with fond memories of their engagement during an otherwise challenging year.

As their love shows, there continues to be light even in difficult times. Frankenmuth is truly a great city for couples. If you are looking for wedding venues in Frankenmuth, make sure to check out Zehnder’s as well as their popular competitor across the street, the Bavarian Inn Restaurant. From personal experience, I can promise that the chicken in both locations is excellent. Although, as you already know, I’d prefer Asian food most days. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to photograph Kahli and Lekako in the charming city of Frankenmuth!
