Dried Flower Wedding

Have you noticed how dried flower wedding have become the hottest trend since 2020? Apparently, one of the main reasons is that many weddings got cancelled during the pandemic. That’s right! The fresh flowers that couldn’t be used were dried!  When it comes to wedding design, this biggest floristry trend has not only helped florists but also brides be more flexible and creative. In fact, incorporating the right dried blooms in your wedding décor is a sustainable and modern way to wow your guests. In this blog, I will share how I styled a mini photoshoot using dried flowers in the wedding details!

Minimalist Dried Flowers and Kumquat Mini Styled Shoot

First of all, the reason I put together this mini styled shoot was mainly to feed my creative soul. As a wedding photographer, I know that a successful styled shoot takes A LOT OF work, effort and cost. However, despite the fact that it takes a whole village of vendors to pull a styled shoot off, I was determined to do this on my own for the sake of creativity. As a matter of fact, this photoshoot took place in my small office with only things I had around my house!

As you might have noticed,  I’ve always been drawn to modern and minimalist weddings. Therefore, it didn’t take long for me to choose dried flowers and kumquats as the theme. Once I’ve settled on a concept and color schemes, I started to collect inspirations from Pinterest. By doing this, I was able to visualize how I could incorporate these elements cohesively so that it tells a story.

If you want to let your creativity flow or get inspirations for your own wedding, here are some dried flower wedding ideas! It is not as complex as you might think. Better yet, it is less wasteful!

Statement Floral Piece

To make a statement, you just need one type of flower. Keep things minimal by placing a single variety when styling your invitation suite and tablescape. Take this dried spear palm leaf from Two of A Kind Floral for example, its spiky leaf added a bold and tropical feel to the natural color palettes of the Mod Classic wedding invitation by Minted Weddings. Of course, this stunning hand-painted styling mat by Jessica of JRD Artshop helped these elements blend in effortlessly and consistently!

Kumquat Tower Table Centerpieces

Next, inspired by the mandarin tower table centerpieces by A Beautiful Mess, I chose to make a statement with a kumquat tower table centerpiece! Looking for a wow-factor on your wedding day? This unique and non-floral wedding centerpiece can absolutely be the eye-catching element of your reception’s décor. And the good news is- you just need a few simple supplies!

-kumquats

styrofoam cone

-round toothpicks

-kale (or other green leaves)

U-shaped floral pins

-aluminum foil  (optional)

For those who are planning a summer backyard wedding,  another unique way to wow your guests will be including kumquat in your wedding bouquets. But, if you want to use other types of fruits as your wedding theme, I would recommend checking out these fruit-filled wedding décor ideas by Ruffled.
