A Strategic Transformation for an Experiential Event Photographer

Kevin is a New York based photographer specializing in luxury events, interiors, and lifestyle portraits. His work blends artistry and precision, capturing light, emotion, and design in thoughtful balance.

As his portfolio expanded across high profile brand activations and editorial campaigns, his website no longer reflected the clarity and direction behind his work. This transformation focused on curating his portfolio into a more cohesive visual story, refining the structure and flow of the site, and aligning every detail with how he wants Middle Grey Studios to be positioned.

What Needed Direction

Kevin was capturing high level experiential and luxury events, but his website didn’t reflect that level of work. The portfolio lacked structure, and without intentional curation, the depth of his work wasn’t fully seen.

Where a Commercial and Experiential Photographer’s Work Outpaced the Website

The Approach

Step 1 The Direction

We defined how Kevin’s work should be seen. As a commercial and experiential photographer, his portfolio spanned brand activations, editorial work, and luxury events, but lacked a clear throughline. The goal was to bring alignment and position his work with intention so the right clients recognize his level right away.

Step 2 The Voice

Next, we refined the voice to match the work. The focus was clarity, not more content. We shaped the copy to feel confident and concise. Every word supports a more elevated presence. Nothing feels forced or over explained.

Step 3 The Curation

This is where the transformation happened. As a commercial and experiential photographer, Kevin’s work comes through agencies and brand partnerships. The focus was on selecting and organizing his work with intention. Creating a system that helped him move forward, stay accountable, and bring the website together with clarity.

Step 4
The Flow

We built a clear structure for the site. The previous website lacked hierarchy and direction. We created a flow that guides the viewer through his work with clarity. Each page has a purpose. The experience feels clear, focused, and easy to navigate.

WHAT WE'RE KNOWN FOR

She brought stronger BRAND CLARITY, a more cohesive visual story, and a site structure that finally supports my work.

Working with Chinling on my website redesign was an excellent experience. Her approach went beyond design and brought real strategic thinking to the process. She was supportive and communicative.

The copy and structure now feel more intentional, polished, and aligned with how I want Middle Grey Studios to be positioned. The improvements to the site structure were huge. It flows more naturally, is easier to navigate, and better supports inquiries!
