Coffee Shop Engagement Session

For this session, we explored some of Richmond’s most scenic spots that highlight the beauty of autumn. Tree-lined paths covered in golden leaves create corners designed for storytelling. The natural palette of fall framed the couple beautifully, giving their images both warmth and elegance.

Before every engagement session, I ask my couples to complete an Engagement Session Questionnaire. It’s my way of getting to know them on a deeper level and ensuring their photos truly reflect who they are. For this couple, their weekend ritual often includes stopping by Roscoe’s Coffee in downtown Richmond. Naturally, we incorporated it into their session—and the result was a cozy, joyful reflection of their love. The warm atmosphere, paired with their laughter, made these images so authentically them.

Another thing I love about photographing in Richmond is the Rose Garden. The lush blooms and winding paths provide a romantic, timeless setting that feels like it was made for engagement photos. Depending on the season, you’ll find vibrant roses in every shade—making it easy to choose a backdrop that complements the couple’s outfits and overall style.
