Michigan Castle Wedding
A Michigan castle wedding sounds so dreamy. In fact, Castle Farms was my dream wedding venue when I planned my own wedding. Although I didn’t end up getting married at the Castle Farms, I’ve always wanted to photograph a Michigan castle wedding. I mean, there aren’t really all that many opportunities to do so. Luckily, Abdullah and Yanhong’s wedding near Curwood Castle in Owosso fulfilled my dream! Just like many weddings during the Coronavirus pandemic, this wedding was small and intimate. And because of that, I got to have a genuine, relaxing and intimate experience with the bride and groom.

Their Love Story
Their love story is one that traverses the world since Abdullah and Yanhong first met at work in Yanhong’s hometown, Singapore, in 2016 and, a year later, they moved to Chicago and where they continued to work together. When it came time to pick a location for their wedding, they decided to return to Abdullah’s childhood home in Michigan, Owosso.
Groom Playing Guitar Singing to Bride at the Ceremony
The ceremony took place at Abdullah’s childhood church-First Congregational Church of Owosso. One of the most beautiful moments was when Abdullah played guitar and sang to Yanhong. Unfortunately, Yanhong’s family could not be there due to the pandemic; however, Abdullah’s family stepped up and walked her down the aisle. It was heartwarming to see everyone coming together despite the challenges of distance. They also set up the livestream of the ceremony to help her family be a part of things, even on the other side of the world.
Suspended Foot Bridge over Shiawassee River
This is a particularly special location because Abdullah proposed to Yanhong by this bridge. What an amazing opportunity to return to the same location, this time as husband and wife!

Every Picture Has A Story To Tell
One of the benefits of being a wedding photographer is that I get to see all of the moments, even the ones that the bride and groom miss because they are getting ready, helping to manage events, or just swept up in the excitingchaos of the day. If you are one of my couples, you probably familiar with what a ‘Premier Day’ meeting with me is about. It is a meeting where I show you your wedding photos for the very first time and make you a slideshow video to relive the day! One of the reasons why I insist doing this is that -I really enjoy telling my couples the story behind their favorite photos. My personal favorite is the photo of Yanhong blushing and laughing right after her First Touch with her groom. Yanhong is definitely one of the most optimistic brides I have ever met.
It was so wonderful to get to work with couple like them. I hope my photographs show you the unique and delightful personalities of Abduallah and Yanhong!
